Rep.Owens, Councilwoman Cheri Hamilton, LMPD announce satellite office for Shawnee Neighborhood  Effort created in partnership with the Shawnee Neighborhood Association & the Shawnee Weed & Seed Program Darryl Owens

Louisville – Rep. Darryl Owens joined Metro Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton, the Shawnee Neighborhood Association and the Shawnee Weed and Seed program on Thursday night in announcing a new partnership with Louisville Metro Police. LMPD’s 2nd Division will soon be operating a substation in French Plaza.

“I am pleased the Second Division officers will have a more visible presence in the Shawnee Area,” said Rep. Owens.

The new substation is an extension of the Division’ headquarters located at 3419 Bohne Avenue in the Park DuValle neighbohood. The new substation’s office space is being donated by the owners of French Plaza, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony French. It is located at 234 Amy Avenue in the office space utilized by the Shawnee Neighborhood Association.

“The Shawnee area is the most northwestern part of our division,” said Troy Pitcock, the Acting Major of the Second Division. “This location will allow our foot and bike patrol officers a way to check in with the division and at the same time spend more time out in the community.”

For two years, LMPD and the Weed & Seed Program as part of the Law Enforcement and Community Policing components have worked hard to reduce crime in the Shawnee area.
